Tour #1A - Sunday, June 7: Jerusalem - New and Old City

Jerusalem Depart hotel, hear story of 1948 Palmach fighters' battles to save Jerusalem. Pass by the churches of Ein Kerem and the Yad Vashem Memorial to the six million Holocaust victims. Pass Mt. Herzl and the Knesset and Israel's new Supreme Court building. After lunch (not included) visit the Old City of Jerusalem and tour on foot Mt. Zion, King David's Tomb, the Room of the Last-Supper, Dormition Church, Zion Gate, and three Old City Quarters - Armenian, Jewish and Christian. Visit the Cardo - the reconstructed main street of Byzantine Jerusalem from the 6th century - the Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Tomb, exit the Old City to the bus and return to hotel.

Day 1 Sunday, June 14 Caesarea, Haifa & Acre

Depart Jerusalem via Tel Aviv, Israel's first modern city built on sand dunes. Pass Netanya on the coastal road to King Herod's ancient Roman port city of Caesarea, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tour the ancient port, Hippodrome and Crusader buildings and experience the new museum and film that take you back 2000 years. Pass Zichron Yaakov and hear about the vineyards and city that Baron Rothschild built nearly 100 years ago. Tour Haifa, pass the Carmel Mountains, Stella Maris and Bahai Gardens and exit Haifa north towards Acre. Break for lunch (not included). Visit UNESCO World Heritage site of the Crusader underground city-Acre. Tour ancient port, the marketplace and, time permitting, the citadel prison where the British jailed Israel's pre-state fighters. Over-night in the Galilee. (Supper included)
Day 2 Monday, June 15 Galilee and Jordan Valley

Highlights: Visit Church of the Beatitudes, the ruins at Capernaum, Tabgha and the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and the Fishes, Tiberias and the Jordan River (Yardenit). Tour Scitopolis Bet Shaan - Roman amphitheatre. Return to Jerusalem via Jordan Valley. Lunch not included.
