General Information


Venue
Kibbutz Ma'ale Hachamisha Hotel and Convention Center contains 230 hotel rooms and a new modern convention center for 400 participants, 10 km from Jerusalem, 50 km from Tel Aviv and 30 km from Ben-Gurion International Airport. Most rooms have a view of the surrounding Judean Mountains and both the rooms and conference facilities are air-conditioned. The hotel complex also includes a spa, swimming pool and various other amenities.

Language
The official language of the meeting is English.

Abstracts of approximately 300 words are invited in the format detailed here.

Exhibition
A commercial exhibition will be held within the framework of the Meeting.

Upon request, the Secretariat will send a personal invitation to participate in the Meeting. Such an invitation is only meant to help visitors raise travel funds or obtain a visa and is not a commitment to provide financial support.

Transportation
Jerusalem is a one hour car ride from Tel Aviv, two hours from Haifa or Tiberias and three hours from the Golan Heights. Jerusalem is 40 minutes from Ben Gurion International Airport, and a 15 minute drive to the conference venue in Ma'ale Hachamisha. Taxi service from the conference venue to Jerusalem costs about $20 and must be ordered from the hotel concierge. Most taxis seat 4 passengers.

Visas
All visitors to Israel are required to have a valid passport, and for some countries, a visa is required. For more information please contact your nearest embassy, consulate or local travel agency well in advance. It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required.

Currency / Exchange
Israel's currency is the New Israeli Shekel (NIS). International major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Exchange offices and ATM machines are easily available throughout the city and at the Ben Gurion International Airport. The exchange rate as of February 2009, was 4 NIS = $1.

Climate
The weather in June is temperate, dry with clear skies, approximately 18°C- 26°C. There is little chance of rain in June.

Clothing
Clothing is informal for all occasions. A sweater or jacket is also recommended, as the meeting rooms may be cool.
